As snow covers the landscape, we enter a black and white world. The sun is an infrequent visitor to this land, you see it trying to break through in white bands illuminating the cloud cover. I sit here with hot coffee, watching the snow swirling beyond my windows, colors blazing in my heart.
December offers us the bright cheery lights of Christmas, the smell of evergreens inside, the crafting times of making gifts. Imagining giving another the joy of a present, intending that they will feel your presence as a flame of love in the choice you have made. I have the fun of crafting gifts with my grandchildren, for gift their parents. It is one of my favorite things to do. Teaching them sewing, cutting, gluing, printmaking…whatever skills they are capable of for their age. I have a two, four and 3/4s (as she points out to one and all) and a ten year old to craft with this year, so I have a range of ideas for them to create.
What will I create in this new world that is rapidly approaching? December holds magic that I have long dreamed of. I began talking about a Christmas of magic and miracles two decades ago when my kids were in their twenties. I felt it so powerfully. This is a downside of being given visions….you have to learn to live with the space between the sight of the vision and the time of it coming into fruition. It caused me heartache for years until I realized that I was given the visions to hold in my heart rather than to feel the weight of responsibility to make them happen in my world. It was not mine to do, only to feel fully and trust in the unfolding in divine timing.
Over the years, I have repeated my mantra of magic and miracles at Christmas and my family nod their heads and say, “We know, Mama, we know, the time of magic and miracles is here.”
Now it is coming true! This Christmas will see changes in our physical world that cannot be denied. My inner being is lit up like a Christmas tree with excitement. I sense a shift that has begun on the inner planes for all of us. Our sun and the sun behind the sun, have been gifting us with light that illumines. It has penetrated deep within our cellular structures to unearth our deepest shadows and grief. Traumas that were long buried are rising to be seen and felt. New aches and pains in the body, illnesses appearing, some sharp and quick, others lingering. Accidents slowing folks down as their bodies call them to tend to their spirits. Many beings departing, having done what they came to do on this earth. Feelings of deep sadness, dreams and waking memories of pain from events that were unbearable….all coming to the fore. These are gifts of healing, as once allowed space to rise, the emotions that our five year old self could not face, our adult self, can. The trick is to not run, to not hide from the emotions, but to fully feel them. It might look like allowing space for grief or sadness to be your world for a time. It can take hours or days…..it takes the time it takes. I will at times, watch a sad movie or read a sad book to help me cry out some of the grief. I recall a fellow administrator from my working days, asking what I was going to do on a Friday night after a grueling week. I told him that I was going to go home and watch a sad movie and sob my heart out. He looked at me, and said, “Wow, I wish that I could do that.” Men, more heavily than women, have been programmed to not allow their emotions full expression.
Your way of allowing the emotions space, may look like red hot anger that wants to lash out at those who caused the initial harm. It may show up as irritation with everyone, it may come as an aversion to socializing with anyone. There are as many guises as there are traumas. All are asking to be seen, to be felt. We can take the hand of our five year old self, or our thirty- three year old self….any age that shows up with pain. We can hold them, comfort them, assure them that we see them and acknowledge what happened to them. We can hold the larger vision of how we chose such an experience to grow in spirit, in love. We came to bring all the shadow world of guilt and shame and pain into the light of the new dawn. To free ourselves of the weight of wrong doing, to remember that we chose the experiences we wished to try on. That we knew that we could walk them all back to love, no matter how dark they might have been. We knew that light can transform all of it into peace.
Why I had not been taught that if I was willing to sit in the darkened landscape of my troubling emotions and experiences, I would be led to a place of peace? It was a revelation to me. Peace on the other side of pain? Wondrous.
So as this dark, heavy energy lifts, we step out of the prisons of our minds that kept us caged in the world of, “You are not enough, you are bad, you are flawed, you are guilty, you are the cause of another’s pain.” We begin to speak to ourselves as we would to a toddler, we offer ourselves grace and heaps of love for all that we have lived. We let others off the hook for past miscreations. We then take on the more difficult task, of letting ourselves off the hook.
Everything begins within us and works its way out. The physical realm is the densest and therefore, the last to feel this shift. It is happening, slowly but surely. I can feel my cells beginning to dance, to hum in a new way. Harmony is being restored so that our bodies will reflect radiant health. Imagine the freedom offered when our cells move in joy, no longer weighed down. We are entering a world beyond our imaginings. Our minds are limited to what they have known or observed in this dense realm. Now we are asked to shed all the old so as to move with joy into the new era of peace. Moving into joy takes effort as we were taught to protect ourselves, to hold back, to keep a buffer of this reality in place so that our hearts could survive.
Surrender, letting go, allowing and trusting…our new bywords. May this December flow in with grace. May ease and joy fill our days. May we all look forward to the birth of our own Christed nature. Christ as a consciousness that we are all destined to embody. Jesus and many other masters have walked the path to show us the way. Not to be worshiped but to be emulated. May we see the Christ in one another and walk it within ourselves. We are worthy. We are light. We are love. It is time to let ourselves shine and light up this world!
